Garden design process

Initial visit
This visit is an opportunity to view the garden with you and listen to your ideas, requirements and any questions you may have. If you decide to commence with a garden design I can give you an estimation for the design fee at this stage. Following this visit I will send you a client brief letter including a design fee quote.

Site Survey
Following your agreement of the design fee quote, I will arrange a site survey. This will include site assessment, measurments, photographs, check soil condition and take note of any level changes. A land surveyor may be required if the site is extensive, if required, this cost will be included in the design fee quote.

Initial sketch plan
Initial sketchs will show the proposed design layout, including hard landscaping, proposed areas for plants and trees, walls, pergolas or other garden features to be included. If necessary small changes can be made to the design at this stage before proceeding to the completed drawings.

Final drawing plan
This includes a presentation plan showing the layout of your garden, including details of hard landscaping, materials, proposed areas for planting and structural features. Layout plans drawn to scale, for the construction of the garden with photocopies. I can advise you on reliable landscape contractors that I work with regularly to carry out the work in your garden.

Planting Plan (priced separately)
This is a separate plan, drawn to scale when the final drawing plan is agreed. Planting Designs I will give you an estimation for the planting plan at this stage. The plan is drawn to scale showing the planting, horticultural names and numbers with a detailed plant list. Fees are payable on reciept of drawings.

I can select the required plants at the nursery and set-out the plants on-site ready for planting. You may prefer to carry out the planting yourself, or I can advise you of reliable landscapers that I work with regularly, to carry out the work for you.
